On Friday, former Vice President and perennial candidate for president, Joe Biden, claimed that all the “world leaders” called him and “begged” him to run for president to “save the world.” Sure they did, Joe. Suuuure they did.
First of all, let’s be serious about Joe Biden. He spent decades in the U.S. Senate before he became Obama’s Vice President. But Joe was widely known as the joke of the U.S. Senate Even John Kerry used to make fun of Joe Biden. Kohn Kerry. That is REALLY saying something.
In any case, after kicking off his campaign with a video where he lied about what Donald Trump said in the aftermath of the 2017 riots in Charlottesville, Virginia, Joe Biden told reporters that he had been buried in calls from world leaders urging him to run against Trump.
The Democrat hopeful made the boastful claim in a call to supporters after he launched his campaign this week, according to the Daily Mail.
“I get calls from people all over the world. World leaders are calling me, and they’re almost begging me to do this, to save the country, save the world,” Biden reportedly said.
This proclamation came on the heels of Biden’s claim that he specifically told former President Barack Obama not to endorse him because the Democrat candidate needs to win “on his own merits.”
Joe Biden has a history of grandiose exaggerations. For instance, in 2016 Biden insisted that he was heading a “moon shot” effort to cure cancer. Of course, nothing ever came of his proposals. And in 2014, he exclaimed that activists for LGBTQ rights were just as brave as the Poles who opposed the Soviet Union in the 1980s.
But perhaps some of his worst exaggeration came in 1988 during one of his other many failed bids for president when he celebrated his own IQ, claimed he graduated college with three degrees, and at the top of his class. In reality, he graduated with one degree, not three, and he was not in the top of his class, but at the bottom having finished 76th in his class.
Biden has either talked about running or actually run for president in every election since the year 1988 and made two, disastrous attempts to win the Democrat nomination for president.
He bailed out of his 1988 bid for president after being found to have plagiarized a political speech as well as some of his papers in college. And his 2008 bid for president failed after a terrible showing in the early primaries against Barack Obama. Biden bowed out early and then endorsed Obama.
