Judge Orders White House To Return Press Pass To Jim Acosta

A federal judge has ordered the White House to immediately return, on a temporary basis, CNN’s Jim Acosta press pass.

Jim Acosta had his White House press credentials revoked after he refused to give the microphone back to an intern during a heated exchange with President Trump at a press conference.

Acosta’s chronically disruptive behavior independent of the incident with the intern is more than enough for them to revoke his press pass.

This has nothing to do with the first amendment. It’s not a constitutional right to attend White House press briefings, it’s a privilege to be allowed in.

Fox News:

A federal judge ruled in favor of CNN on Friday, allowing the network’s star reporter Jim Acosta to temporarily regain access to his White House press credential.

“I will grant the application for the temporary restraining order I order the government reinstate the pass,” U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly ruled from Washington.

Kelly – who rescheduled Thursday’s planned hearing for Friday morning – heard lengthy oral arguments earlier in the week about the cable news network’s request for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction. The administration suspended Acosta’s “hard pass,” which provided expedited access to the White House grounds.

Kelly’s decision is temporary and further hearings are expected to take place in the next few weeks to determine whether or not yanking the credential violated CNN and Acosta’s First and Fifth Amendment rights.

“We are gratified with this result and we look forward to a full resolution in the coming days. Our sincere thanks to all who have supported not just CNN, but a free, strong and independent American press,” CNN said in a statement. More

The intern tried to retrieve the mic first he blocked her and turned away then when she actually had a hand on the mic he chopped at her arm. This wasn’t a reflective action this was deliberate! No matter how you slice it, his behavior was inappropriate and just plain old rude all the way around. Watch the video below and decide for yourself.
