Kerry Gives No Apology to Netanyahu

If you remember the movie “All the President’s Men” based on the Watergate scandal and two reporters’ work to expose it, you’ll remember the amusing discussions about how to distinguish between a politician’s denial and a “non-denial denial.”

There’s a lot of this “non-” fill-in-the-blank stuff coming out of Washington these days, like the “non-war war” against the “non-Islamic” Islamic State.

Add to the list Secretary of State John Kerry’s “non-apology apology” to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for an anonymous Administration member’s comment calling Netanyahu “chickens**t.”

According to an article in The Atlantic, an anonymous member of the Obama Administration said: “The thing about Bibi is, he’s a chickens**t. … The good thing about Netanyahu is that he’s scared to launch wars. The bad thing about him is that he won’t do anything to reach an accommodation with the Palestinians or with the Sunni Arab states. The only thing he’s interested in is protecting himself from political defeat.”

The basic point of the Atlantic article is that the Obama Administration is upset with Netanyahu for not bending over for the so-called “two-state solution,” which really would amount to Israel giving concessions and Palestinians demanding ever more until there was nothing left of Israel.

So Kerry came out Thursday and said how appalled he was that anyone would use such language (though you might suspect that as a Democrat he’s heard plenty of trash talk).

“We condemn anybody who uses language such as was used in this article,” Kerry said. “That does not reflect the president, it does not reflect me, it is disgraceful, unacceptable, damaging and I think neither President Obama nor I — I’ve never heard that word around me in the White House or anywhere.”

In other words, Mr. Kerry, it’s all about you?

I think the appropriate words here are along the lines of “on behalf of America, I apologize.”

The Obama Administration should be really good at apologizing for America’s behavior, considering how much bowing and scraping the president did to the world’s bad guys when he first got into office.

But then, Obama has never been a big fan of Israel, as witnessed by the fact that the Administration says it is not looking for the cowardly cretin who spoke to The Atlantic … cough, Valerie Jarrett, cough. …
