“They referred us to an April memo announcing $145 million and a contract with SLSCO to build 13 miles of border wall in the Valley,” the news station noted.

According to reports, that contract was issued in April.

“U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Army Corps of Engineers have awarded Galveston, Texas-based SLSCO Ltd a $145 million contract to build a 6-mile piece of a border-levee wall system along the U.S.-Mexico border in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas,” according to the construction industry website, ConstructionDive.com.

“This marks the first new wall construction contract under President Donald Trump’s Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements executive order, which he issued back in January 2017, almost immediately after taking office. The directive, among other immigration-related items, calls for an end-to-end wall, but, up until now, work along the border has been limited to repairs and replacement,” the site added.

A new website dedicated to tracking the president’s new construction was recently launched by Trump fan.

At TrumpWallconstrution, visitors can find an interactive map tracking the new construction.

The site’s creator explained that he guilt the website because he was sick of the “fake news” about the border wall construction. “I was frustrated that nobody was covering this in a way to really understand exactly where the new wall was being built and where the existing wall was,” he wrote.
