Liberals have been complaining for years that superhero movies are too male dominated and despite that they got their Wonder Woman two years ago, leftists hailed the coming of Brie Larson as a feminist Captain Marvel. But now they say even that isn’t good enough. Now they want Captain Marvel to be gay, too.
Once again, we see that leftists are never happy. They are always push the goalposts to the next level of extremism. It reminds of the days when liberals said they didn’t want abortion in the third trimester — now they do. Or when liberals all said that they don’t want to take all our guns — now they do. Or when they always said that accepting gays would not mean they wanted gay marriage — now they do…. liberals always lie. They say they want policy “a” and not “b” or even “z,” but they really want the most extreme policy that policy “a” would lead to.
In any case, we see leftist comic book fans unsatisfied that they got the powerful female superhero movie that they have agitated for, but now even that is not enough.
As Daily Wire reports, a leading comic book website, CBR.com, went on a rant about forcing Marvel Comics into turning Captain Marvel gay.
CBR insisted that “revealing Captain Marvel as gay would be a winning move for Disney, and an important step forward for the MCU.”
CBR warns Marvel to embrace “progressive storytelling.” By that they mean the comic company needs to start writing stories to satisfy left-wing extremists and not their actual fans.
“The Brie Larson-helmed film has opened the door for the studio to make an even bigger statement by presenting the new face of the MCU as a straight-up LGBT character,” CBR exclaimed. “Why can’t the strongest Avenger out there, the one who’s leading the new era of Marvel movies, be gay?”
Assuming that audiences want Captain Marvel to b gay is not a sure bet, though.
“The general audience has embraced the hero’s progressive style and what she stands for, inspiring girls and women globally,” the comic book site insisted. “By making her queer, the studio would jump to the forefront of gay rights everywhere. By presenting Carol Danvers as a feminist, a strong woman, and a hero with an unbreakable will who just so happens to be an LGBT representative would be a remarkable way to help shape the MCU’s future.”
It apparently does not matter that Captain Marvel is not gay in the comics. No, CBR wants that imposed on the movie character and future installments of the series.
CBR may be right that audiences may accept a gay lead character. But if the Marvel Universe wants that, they need to lead the charge with a new character instead of retroactively imposing it on an already debuted character just to satisfy the social justice warriors.
