A liberal official of the Ocean City, Maryland, Planning and Zoning Commission attempted to use his position of power on the board to scare supporters of President Donald Trump into removing flags bearing the president’s name from their boats, a report notes.
The row arose a few weeks after President Trump tweeted out a photo of the a harbor in Ocean City that featured a line of mored boats flying Trump campaign flags. Trump posted the tweet on August 3 with the caption, “Great photo from Ocean City, Maryland. Thank you. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The Trump tweet came after a report by WMDT-TV about all the Trump-supporting boat owners:
All over Sunset Marina and the Ocean City Fishing Center, Trump flags are flying high in the sky.
Chris Little, a White Marlin Open Competitor said, “We all have our flags up and at the end of the day, it’s pretty decorative with all Trump stuff.”
Eddie Jordan, an Ocean City Visitor said, “We have made America great again.”
All those “Make America Great Again” flags caught the attention of our nations’ president.
Trump tweeted,”Great Photo from Ocean City, Maryland. Thank you. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
These flags are largely the work of one local man, Mark Odachowski.
Odachowski said, “The least I could do is support our country and our economy coming back.”
But apparently having Trump supporters in his midst was enough to send Zoning Board member Palmer Gillis straight to typically liberal intimidation tactics and to try and use his exalted position to force Trump supporters to pull down their Trump flags.
In an August 29 op-ed, Gillis threatened to launch boycotts against business and marinas in Maryland for “allowing” people to fly Trump flags.
In his piece forebodingly entitled, “Trump flags an unwelcome sight in Ocean City,” Gillis warned people to stop supporting Donald Trump.
“Our freedom of choice is to try to keep ourselves out of view while we try to enjoy a meal, which means we stay away from these marinas with their great restaurants and facilities” that allow people to fly Trump flags, Gillis wrote not-so-subtly warning of a boycott movement.
Imagine, a member of a government board suggesting boycotts of businesses just because their customers like Donald Trump!
It’s just another example of liberals who want to take away America’s right to free political speech and will use their power as a government official as a weapon to achieve that end.
