Liberals are strangely stupid people. Now they are mad at a video clip that resurfaced where poet Maya Angelou demanded respect from a teenager during a question and answer event… from… from three decades ago.
That’s right, liberals are attacking a woman who is five-years dead for demanding respect from a kid in a film clip that is 30 years old!
Talk about getting upset over nothing.
I can’t wait to turn 30 so I can read one of yall for calling me by my first name like this: pic.twitter.com/ym71DkWCNn

So, what is this about? SFGate reports:
…a nearly 30-year-old clip of legendary poet, author and civil rights activist, Maya Angelou. Angelou, who died in 2014, was trending on Twitter after footage surfaced of her on a television show in 1990 correcting a young woman who called the longtime Bay Area resident by her first name.
In the clip, a young woman of color named Kim asked “Maya,” as she put it, her views on interracial relationships.
Immediately Angelou responded, “Thank you, and first, I’m Ms. Angelou. I’m not Maya. I’m 62 years old. I have lived so long and tried so hard that a young woman like you, or any other, have no license to come up to me and call me by my first name.
“That’s first. Also, because at the same time, I’m your mother, I’m your auntie, I’m your teacher, I’m your professor. See?”
This is all very sensible reasoning on Angelou’s part.
Indeed, it is a traditional way to treat your elders, America.
Personally, I find Angelou’s work to be tripe. She was elevated because of her liberal activism, sex, and race, not because of her talent.
But that is beside the point. This woman became a renowned poet and even became the poet laureate for the White House. That is nothing to sneeze at whether you think her poems are any good or not.
This is not the sort of woman that you should treat as a familiar. She is a woman of accomplishment.
Her reaction to the kid was right on. The kid should have treated her with the respect she had earned.
But, as SFGate notes, liberals on Twitter went crazy when the clip resurfaced.
But many people on Twitter expressed outrage, or even embarrassment, over the clip. “Maya Angelou did NOT have to READ this innocent girl down on national TV like that,” wrote Twitter user @Doogi_, along with three crying emojis.
Another Twitter user, @DragonflyJonez, said that the clip going viral and the ensuing discussion about it, “has me reliving all of the cringe worthy times I responded with “yes ma’am” when a lady has told me to stop calling her ma’am and now I wanna crawl under a rock and die thanks a lot guys.”
Sorry, liberals. You are wrong.
