I’ve heard a number of conservatives give good arguments against all of the proposed gun control laws. One of those was Cuban immigrant Manuel Martinez who spoke to a state senate committee in Oregon. The best statement Martinez made was when he pointed a finger at liberal Democratic Senator Floyd Prozansky and told him:
“You people don’t know what freedom is because you never lost it. You haven’t been tortured. You haven’t been the assassinations. You haven’t been mothers begging for the life of their son not to be killed because the only reason they want is to be free. And they kill the mothers, and they kill the son.”
However, I think the best testimony I’ve heard to date given against gun control was delivered by 15 year old Sarah Merkle of Maryland. She spoke well, concise and paid out a number of reasons why the proposed gun control laws in Maryland were harmful and unconstitutional.
After the video of her testimony swept the internet, Merkle was interviewed by Gretchen Carlson on Fox and Friends. I was again impressed with the composure and maturity of this 15 year old girl. She readily defended her position without hesitation or stammering. Not only is she a formidable marksmen, but she appears to be a formidable debater on the issue of gun control as well.
Sadly, the members of the Maryland legislature failed to listen to Merkle’s testimony as they went ahead and passed the strict gun laws. The only chance that Sarah has of competing in her sport and winning a college scholarship would be for her to move out of Maryland to a more gun friendly state like Texas, Arizona or North Carolina.
In fact, I would love to see every conservative family move out of these liberally controlled states and move to states that appreciate their conservative patriotic values. As for me, you couldn’t pay me enough money to move to a state like Maryland, New York Connecticut or Colorado among others.
