Back in May, I share with you the case of Meriam Yehya Ibrahim.
“Ibrahim is the daughter of a Sudanese father and Ethiopian mother. When she was six years old, her father left the family and she was then raised by her mother who is also a Christian. The Sudanese government however, still considered her to be a Muslim since her father was a Muslim.”
“Her decision not to renounce her Christian faith and her marriage has resulted in Ibrahim being sentenced to be hanged to death after receiving 100 lashes for adultery (for being illegally married to an American Christian). She is currently in prison with her 20 month old son. Oh yeah, Ibrahim is pregnant with the couple’s second child. Sudanese authorities plan to wait till she has the baby and then hang her.”
Ibrahim had her baby several weeks ago and her Sudanese attorney worked hard to save her life and the lives of her children. In a report released early Monday morning:
“But her lawyer Elshareef Ali Mohammed said Monday that an appeal court had overturned the decision after it recognized that Sudan’s constitution allows religious freedom of expression. She was now at home with her husband and young son. ‘She is very happy,’ the lawyer said via telephone from the capital Khartoum just after 6 p.m. local time, an hour after Ibrahim was released. ‘At first she did not believe the news that she was to be released but she was very surprised in the end.’”
However, the joyful news was not long lived as Ibrahim, her two children and husband were arrested at the airport in Khartoum as they were preparing to leave Sudan. In an updated news release:
“A mother who was freed from death row for refusing to renounce Christianity has been re-arrested just one day later while trying to leave Sudan, her lawyer told NBC News on Tuesday. Meriam Ibrahim, 27, was ‘very happy’ after an appeals court on Monday overturned a death sentence imposed because she married a Christian man and allegedly turned her back on Islam. But lawyer Elshareef Ali Mohammed said a group of 50 security force personnel arrested her and family members during an angry confrontation at Khartoum’s airport on Tuesday.”
“Mohammed, who said he was at the airport with Ibrahim, said no reason was given for her re-arrest. Britain’s Foreign Office said it had received confirmation that Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Service had detained Ibrahim and her husband Daniel Wani, an American citizen who told the Guardian following his wife’s release that he hoped they could start a new life in the U.S. The couple were with their two children at the time of their detention, including the baby Ibrahim gave birth to while she was on death row in a women’s prison. When contacted by NBC News, a State Department spokeswoman said Ibrahim was ‘safe,’ but declined to say where due to security reasons.”
The American Center for Law and Justice (ALCJ) reported:
“Other reports indicate that she was arrested by ‘national security officials’ because of ‘national security concerns,’ and she is beyond the reach of any civilian court.”
“We are mobilizing our resources, working in DC to urge the Obama Administration to take immediate diplomatic action as Meriam and her American family are now unjustly in Sudanese custody.”
“We’ve changed our petition language to reflect the latest development and urge you to sign and stand with Meriam.”
I would like to remind you that the Barack Obama has a personal connection to the Sudanese government as I spelled out in a previous post:
“President Barack Hussein Obama’s older half-brother is Malik Obama. Malik is the child of Obama’s father Barack Obama Sr. and his first wife Kezia. He was born and raised in Kenya, where he received a degree in accounting at the University of Nairobi.”
“In addition to illegally operating the non-profit organization, Barack H. Obama Foundation, Malik Obama currently works as the Executive Secretary of the Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO). The US State Department considers the government of Sudan to be a terrorist organization and it just so happens that the IDO was created by that same Sudanese government.”
“In 2010, the IDO held a conference in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. The conference was led by Omar Al-Bashir, the President of Sudan. He is wanted on seven counts of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court. The US State Department has also listed Bashir as the head of the state sponsored terrorism of Sudan.”
“One of the principle goals of the conference was to promote their Wahhabist form of Islam throughout Africa. Wahhabi is an ultra-conservative form of Sunni Islam that was started by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab in the 1700s. He was an Islamic theologian that lived in Saudi Arabia. This is the predominant form of Islam in Saudi Arabia today.”
“Malik Obama not only attended the IDO conference, but he spoke at it as well. There are photos of Malik and his boss, Suar Al Dahab, Chairman of the IDO. Dahab has a close relationship with Bashir and has been seen with Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood who says Hitler did not finish the job in exterminating the Jews, and Ismail Haniyeh, the Prime Minister of Hamas (a terrorist organization). On a recent trip to Gaza, the three men appeared together and it was obvious that Dahab demonstrated full support to the two leaders.”
With his brother’s connections with the Sudanese government, why didn’t Obama do anything to help free Ibrahim in the first place? I contend that it’s because she’s a Christian. Based upon Obama’s track record, he would have done everything possible to rescue her and her children had they been Muslims in a Christian prison, but since she was a Christian in a Muslim prison, our worthless president was prepared to let her hang.
Don’t forget that Ibrahim’s husband in an American citizen and as such, his two children are also US citizens. Our State Department should be up in arms to protect them and secure their release, but all State Department Secretary John Kerry does is to strut around and posture which is meaningless.
If Seal Team 6 could capture Osama bin Laden, then perhaps they should be used to rescue Ibrahim and her family. But you know that won’t happen under Obama’s watch.
