Police in San Francisco have discovered a meth lab hidden in a hotel that the city rented to house coronavirus patients.
Police were called and alerted to strange odors coming from one of the rooms in the place, according to KTUV.
When officers arrived, they realized that a hazmat team was needed.
“I was just like shocked,” one hotel guest told police. “He’s like, there’s a meth lab right above your room so we need you to evacuate because it could explode at any time.”
Officers discovered the meth lab on the second floor of the hotel.
“Officers conducted an investigation and discovered chemicals in the room known to make narcotics,” said Officer Robert Rueca, a San Francisco Police Department spokesman, “We believe this was isolated only to one guest room and two adults were taken into custody.”
A local business owner said that he was annoyed that the city did not more carefully screen who ended up in these facilities.
“I do see that a place like this can be abused to be used for those kind of activities,” the business owner said, “If you are housing people that are not there with a security deposit or anything that makes them liable, liability is key.”
The city has thus far refused to comment on the incident.
Of course they didn’t!
