Mexican Government Helping Illegals Stay in America

Do you remember the Emma Lazarus poem that is inscribed on the Statue of Liberty? The poem is titled New Colossus and ends with the verses:

“Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Mexico is doing their best to make us live up to those poetic lines. Not only does our neighbor turn a blind eye to the millions of Mexican citizens crossing illegally into the US, but they are actively working to help keep them here.

When Congress refused to pass a sweeping immigration reform bill that would have granted amnesty and a path to citizenship for millions of illegals, Barack Obama decided he didn’t need Congress and enacted his own amnesty program called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA. Enacted on June 15, 2012, the DACA was supposed to grant nearly one million young Hispanics the legal right to remain in the US illegally. It also would allow them to seek employment and receive basically the same benefits as US citizens have.

The Mexican government not only maintains an embassy in Washington DC, but they also have a consulate in all 50 states. Those consulates have been busy helping low-income illegals who qualify for Barack Obama’s illegal DACA program to file their applications to help them remain in the US. According to an official with the Mexican Embassy in DC:

“Our main objective is the wellbeing of our nationals wherever they are, so what we want for them is that they are successful and really continue contributing to this country [the U.S.].”

If they were honest, they would have said that their main objective is to keep their poor people in the US so that they don’t have to take care of them. You would think that if they were that concerned about the wellbeing of low-income Mexicans that they would be spending their time and money on helping those in their own country instead of those that are in the US illegally, but obviously that’s not the case.

Ira Mehlman, Media Director for the Federal for American Immigration Reform doesn’t agree with what the Mexican official said either, saying:

“The Mexican government seems far more concerned about poor Mexicans living illegally in the United States than they are about poor Mexicans living in Mexico, and that really is the root of the problem. The Mexican government’s attitude has always been, ‘If you’re not happy here, there’s the border. Go! The United States will provide the education, the healthcare and all the social services. You work there in the United States, take jobs that otherwise might have gone to American workers and send back billions of dollars in remittances to Mexico.’”

And that’s exactly what so many of the illegals are doing. Most of them don’t pay taxes into the system that is doling them out all of the free benefits they receive. On top of that, they send as much money back to their families in Mexico as possible. The bottom line is that they contribute as little as possible into our economy and take as much as possible back to their own country. No wonder the Mexican government wants them to stay here. It’s actually helping their economy a lot more than it’s helping ours.

I say it’s time we close the border using US troops along the entire 1900 miles. Then order all law enforcement agencies to round up every illegal and ship them back to their own country. In the process, I would bill each country for the costs involved in the arrest, detention, processing and deportation of ever illegal. Evicting 11-15 million illegals would give our economy a huge economic boost which it really needs right now. That’s what I would do if I were president.
