A New York mother says that her daughter’s grade school refused to allow the girl to use President Donald Trump as her “hero” for a class project.
The parent says that a teacher at Samoset Middle School would not let the sixth graders choose the president to be their hero, according to News 12.
Mom Valerie Moscato says that her daughter, Bella, has loved Trump for several years and even dressed as Trump for Halloween.
But Bella’s teacher told her that Trump “spreads negativity and says bad stuff about women”” and demanded that she pick another person for her hero project.
Bella’s mom is outraged that the school refused to allow the girl to pick her own hero.
The child’s father, Arthur Moscato, is also incensed that his daughter was not allowed to choose her own hero. He and his wife feel that the child’s rights were squelched, and that the teacher acted with intimidation and censorship.
However, the school is claiming that the girl is lying.
Sachem Central School District Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Graham sent a statement to News 12 denying all claims.
“It is not accurate,” Graham wrote, “that this student was told that they were not allowed to conduct research or report on any individual for a school assignment, including President Trump. To the best of our knowledge, by choice the student is still conducting their project of President Trump.”
Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Graham needs to go back to school himself if he wrote “they” instead of the proper “she” in the opening sentence of his note.
The child’s father slammed the school’s statement saying, “No one should make a child feel that way, and you’re supposed to protect my child.”
The family want an apology from both the district and the teacher.
But it is far more likely that the parents are the ones telling the truth. After all, on nearly a monthly basis we see one school or another across the land attacking Donald Trump. So, if Samoset Middle School were to be found guilty of this outrage, it would just fit with the trend in our fetid system of miseducation.
