It appears that “Russiagate” isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.
The nation has been in the grips of Putin-pandemonium for years now, something that the release of the Mueller report was supposed to settle – one way or another.
Instead, the metered disclosure of the 400+ page document has kicked the hornet’s nest on the left side of the aisle, prompting a response so agitated that much of the legislative calendar has become null and void. It’s Mueller-mania, undoubtedly, and we are truly in the thick of it now.
The question at this late hour is what will finally give the democrats what they need to let go. The report was supposed to be the end-all, be-all of this mess. Then there was the testimony of Attorney General Bill Barr. Then there were contempt charges. Just this week the Department of Justice agreed to release more of the report to certain members of Congress, and even this generosity couldn’t quench the democrats’ thirst.
Now, the left is back to threatening Robert Mueller himself.
Mueller, in a rare press conference weeks ago, explained clearly that he has no willingness to testify before Congress, and to allow his report to speak for him.
If subpoenaed, Mueller indicated that he would only be inclined to give answers by referencing the report itself.
