Navy Yard Shootings Navy’s Fault But Obama Still Blames The Guns

Aaron Alexis, 34, loaded his arsenal into his car and headed to the Washington Navy Yard on Sunday.  Security at the Navy Yard is so tight that all Alexis had to do was flash his badge and he was waved on through the gates.  I believe this was one of many failures by the US Navy that led up to killing of 12 people and wounding of others.  If the security personnel had made a quick check of Alexis’ vehicle, there is a good chance that they would have found the weapons and been able to have prevented the tragedy from happening.  It was Obama’s liberal predecessor, President Bill Clinton that made military bases in the US gun free zones, which led to the shootings at Ft Hood and the Navy Yard in Washington.  But President Barack Obama still blames the guns.

Alexis had a history of mental illness and sought help.  He complained of hearing voices in his head and had a number of incidents of misconduct and acting in a suspicious manner, but the Navy failed to take action other than discharging him for misconduct.  Incredibly, Alexis still managed to pass not one but two background checks and was given a security clearance to work on the Navy Yard.  But President Barack Obama still blames the guns.

Less than twenty-four hours after the Navy Yard shootings, President Barack Obama and other leading Democrats once again began their litany for more gun control measures.  Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) jumped on the anti-Second Amendment bandwagon within hours of the shooting, calling for more anti-gun laws saying:

“This is one more event to add to the litany of massacres that occur when a deranged person or grievance killer is able to obtain multiple weapons – including a military-style assault rifle – and kill many people in a short amount of time.”

“When will enough be enough?”

“Congress must stop shirking its responsibility and resume a thoughtful debate on gun violence in this country. We must do more to stop this endless loss of life.”

My response to Feinstein is that Alexis passed two background checks, one conducted by the FBI and one by the state of Virginia, and they are more involved than the ones she is advocating for gun owners.  So what makes her believe that her gun control would have done anything to stop the Navy Yard shootings?

President Barack Obama is doing more than just insisting that Congress pass more gun control laws, he is once again turning to the dictatorial powers known as executive orders to implement as many of his personal gun control policies as possible.  Like Feinstein, Obama is also calling on Congress to pass universal background checks that would include online and gun show sales.  But again I ask how that would have prevented the Navy Yard shootings since Alexis passed two Navy background checks?

If you want to point a finger of responsibility on the shootings that took place Sunday, you need to point them at Navy officials and our former president.  You have to ask them how a man with known mental illness issues who was asking for help passed two background checks.  You also have to ask why he was issued a security clearance after being discharged for misconduct that involved discharging a firearm?  Alexis also had a record of violent outbursts, but the Navy still gave him access to the Navy Yard and everyone that worked there.

Obama and Feinstein want you to believe that the guns forced Alexis to shoot and kill 12 innocent people as if these inanimate objects had the capability of controlling someone’s mind.  Tobacco kills more people each year than guns, but you don’t hear the President calling for strict legislation to restrict the access to tobacco products, do you?

That’s because the issue isn’t the violence or whackos that go off the deep end and start shooting people.  The issue is to disarm the American public.  It’s hard for a subversive government to conquer its own people when they own over 300 million firearms and the government doesn’t know where they are or who owns them.  History showed that once Hitler’s Nazi government learned where all the guns were, they went around and confiscated them and then placed the German people under their control.  Obama is trying to do the same thing here, but he can’t with this many weapons privately owned in locations they are unaware of.

Americans need to keep it this way.  What the government knows will hurt us.  What they don’t know will help protect us from their tyranny.
