Liberal officials in New York City have been caught lying about the number of coronavirus deaths in the Big Apple in order to scam more money from the federal government.
City officials added almost 4,000 extra deaths to its coronavirus death toll last week, increasing the number of deaths in the U.S. by 17 percent, according to the New York Times.
But these 3,700 patients never tested positive for the virus. New York authorities added them based only on the “presumption” that they had the virus because some reported “similar” symptoms before their deaths.
According to the New York Times noted that this sudden addition is a departure from previous practices. “A limited number of tests have been available, and until now, only deaths where a person had tested positive were counted among those killed by the virus in New York,” the paper reported.
The Times added, “New York City’s coronavirus death toll soared past 10,000 after officials added more than 3,700 people who had never tested positive for the virus but were presumed to have died of it.”

According to the paper, the change to the reporting procedure was OKayed by Mayor Bill de Blasio.
“In the heat of battle, our primary focus has been on saving lives,” de Blasio press secretary Freddi Goldstein told the Times. “As soon as the issue was raised, the mayor immediately moved to release the data.”
The paper also boo hooed that reporting is “difficult” for authorities.
“Public health officials say that counting the dead from a pandemic disease like Covid-19 presents difficulties because many of those who die are older or suffering from other serious health conditions,” the Times wrote. “And the full effects of the outbreak on mortality in New York City, and around the country, could take many more months to study and understand.”
So, why the big change? Because federal officials pay out more cash for the coronavirus than they do regular medical problems.
For instance, if New York hospitals can claim that a patient was on a ventilator, Medicare pays much, much more to the hospital.
A doctor recently told Fox News, “Right now Medicare has determined that if you have a COVID-19 admission to the hospital you’ll get paid $13,000. If that COVID-19 patient goes on a ventilator, you get $39,000; three times as much.”
The same is true for federal funding. New York City officials are merely padding the death reports so that they can plead for more federal cash.
