It didn’t take long for President Obama and other liberals to exploit the deaths of nine people at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, for political ends.
On Thursday, there was Obama, with Vice President Joe Biden right beside him, telling America, “We do know that once again, innocent people were killed in part because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no trouble getting their hands on a gun.”
There you have it. It’s the gun’s fault.
Obviously, if only Dylann Roof didn’t have a gun (which at least one report said was a gift from his parents), then nothing would have happened at Emanuel AME. (Notice how this stuff always happens at places that are least likely to have any guns.)
It’s not like he could have used a knife, machete, ax, chainsaw, poison gas, homemade bomb or just driven a car through the rectory.
No, only guns kill innocent people.
Except in the hands of government.
Unless the officer’s white and a suspect is black.
Then watch out.
Roof is white.
The victims are black.
Hmm. We may be on to something here. …
Roof did admit to police that his motivation was a plan to start a quote-unquote race war.
And he did reportedly tell one of his black victims who pleaded with him to stop, “No, you’ve raped our women, and you are taking over the country … I have to do what I have to do.” Then Roof shot him.
One friend of Roof’s told authorities that Roof was “into” segregation and had been planning “something crazy” for about six months.
In other words, the gun was just the method. The trouble began with Roof’s plan, and the plan began with an idea: that human beings’ value and place depends on their skin color.
Can’t imagine where he might have learned that idea. Certainly not from recent news from Baltimore, New York or Ferguson, Missouri. Certainly not from videos on the Internet showing black criminals playing the Knockout Game. Certainly not from violent anti-women rap music or video games extolling “gangstas,” rape and murder.
And absolutely no way could he have gotten the idea from a White House that has spent six years dividing America into skin-tone ghettos and encouraging criminals to come over the border at will.
In the end, it appears that Roof was simply crazy and was easily influenced to act on the racial animosity that has swelled to nearly epidemic proportions under Obama. (Mood-altering prescription drugs may have been a factor as well.)
But until guns can walk, talk and fire themselves, let’s stop blaming the lifeless hunk of metal for the actions of mentally disturbed individuals who have picked up on the racist vibe that is permeating our entertainment, news coverage and politics.
