Now Liberals Say ‘Problematic’ ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ is Anti-Woman, Encourages Bullying

Ever ready to destroy American holiday traditions and to call our culture evil, left-wing blog Huffington Post is now on the attack against Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer and saying it encourages bullying, is anti-woman, homophobic, and ridicules marginalized people.

HuffPo hit Twitter with a short video attacking the classic 1964 Rankin and Bass stop motion animated Christmas special originally aired on NBC and featuring narration by Burl Ives.

The movie length show features the rise of Rudolph from shunned, misfit reindeer with an inexplicable red light for a nose, to the one chosen to lead Santa’s sleigh through a storm because his nose is “so bright.”

For decades the little movie has been a Christmas staple teaching generations of kiddies that being different is not a bad thing and can even be a major, important strength.

But, because liberals are all filled with hate, now the left is attacking Rudolph and claiming it pushes evil ideas on children.

On November 28, HuffPo disgorged the following video tweet:

In the short video, the classic TV show is accused of being “seriously problematic” and pushing bad ideas on kids.

The video starts with the other reindeer youngsters making fun of Rudolph for his “red schnoz” and segues to the video’s title, “Rudolph the marginalized reindeer.”

After noting that the movie is a “holiday classic” that returns to TV every season, HuffPo gravely notes, “But lately, viewers are noticing the tale may not be so jolly after all.”

Well, duh! They are just noticing this? The whole thing has always been a statement AGAINST bullying and in favor of diversity. Indeed, it shows that with perseverance and being true to yourself, you can achieve great things!

The HuffPo video goes on to post some of the social media comments slamming the show as a “nightmare,” and proceeds to point out what the left sees as the movie’s flaws.

Those “flaws” include:

  • Rudolph’s father is verbally abusive
  • Santa Claus Berates Rudolph
  • The reindeer school coach encourages bullying
  • Rudolph’s father is sexist against Rudolph’s mother
  • Other reindeers are bigoted
  • Elves are mean for attacking the elf who wants to be different and become a dentist

The HuffPo video even demeans Rudolph’s actual message of diversity and acceptance of others by claiming “deviation from the norm will be punished unless it is exploitable.”

But one Twitter user had the best slam on HuffPo: “And yet somehow as a 5-year-old I was able to feel empathy for Rudolph and all the misfits and learned to treat people with respect and kindness. Unlike the emotionally triggered who stomp out any happiness they find. Sorry Huffpo, not playing any of your reindeer games.”

Dead on, sir!

But a growing number of leftists are still triggered by the 54-year-old cartoon.

It must be exhausting being a leftists who is daily on the lookout for something to destroy.
