NY Gov. Cuomo Thinks There Were Never Hurricanes Before Global Warming

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo insisted that his state never saw tornadoes, hurricanes, or harsh storms until global warming started. Apparently, Cuomo seems to have a history deficit where it comes to hurricanes, storms and, well, the weather.

The confused, ill-informed Democrat was on MSNBC (where else?) with lefty anchor Ali Velshi when he blurted out the following:

“Ali, anyone who questions extreme weather and climate change is just delusional at this point. We have seen in the State of New York and we have seen — it is something we never had before. We didn’t have hurricanes or super storms or tornadoes.”

The laughable politician made these comments after a week of heavy flooding hit upstate New York last week.

New York was awash with record rainfalls on October 31, leading to school closings, power outages, and road closures.

“This is a storm that came up just over night and dropped about five inches of rain,” Cuomo added. “It was literally a matter of life and death for people. I was at one of the sides this morning, the river overcame its banks with five inches of water. The streets looked like rivers themselves.”

So, is Andrew “Hornblower” Cuomo right? Has New York been entirely free of hurricanes until global warming started in the 80s?

Not quite.

Major hurricanes were recorded even before New York was New York and just as it sprouted out of the forests of the New World. Major hurricanes were recorded in the years 1438, 1635, 1667, 1693, 1785, and 1788.

There was more after those ancient dates, too:

In October of 1804 a hurricane dumped 30 inches of snow on Eastern New York.
On September 24, 1815, Long Island crops were devastated by a major howler.
On September 3, 1821, Long Island was once again wrecked by a violent hurricane.
On June 4, 1825, ships were wrecked at port and a dozen people killed by a hurricane.
On October 4, 1841, New York City suffered $2 million in damage by a massive hurricane. And $2 million then was nearly incalculable!

Well, I could go on and on for two hundred years of hurricane history.

Suffice to say, the same things happened over and over again throughout the 1800s and into the 20th Century all the way up until the time global warming religionists say climate change began occurring.

In other words, weather has been happening since, well, forever.

Maybe Gov. Cuomo needs some staffers to do some basic research for him before he opens his mouth to look so stupid?
