And here we go.
The New York Times, the nation’s paper of record, in its first front-page editorial in almost 100 years, today called on Americans to give up their guns to the government “for the good of their fellow citizens.”
After thoroughly cooking two mass shootings in one week, the media have apparently decided to just go for it and are urging Americans to voluntarily fork over their weapons, while calling for the government to actually take them away.
Shoring up the call for gun-grabbing is the week-long anti-Christian slanderfest that’s been going on since Robert Dear supposedly assaulted Planned Parenthood (though he didn’t actually shoot anyone who works for or was a patient at that clinic) and became the poster child for the fictional wave of Christian terror that’s been allegedly sweeping the country. The media have even tried to connect the probably ISIS-inspired terrorism in San Bernardino to Christian pro-life “extremists.”
All of that culminated in the New York Daily News’ front page headline “God Isn’t Fixing This” and the attendant story that tried to tie every media-celebrated killing in the last 10 years to the GOP, the NRA, Donald Trump and Jesus.
And now comes the rest of the one-two punch from the NYT:
“Certain kinds of weapons, like the slightly modified combat rifles used in California, and certain kinds of ammunition, must be outlawed for civilian ownership. It is possible to define those guns in a clear and effective way and, yes, it would require Americans who own those kinds of weapons to give them up for the good of their fellow citizens.
“What better time than during a presidential election to show, at long last, that our nation has retained its sense of decency?”
Gun-control advocates are delusional if they think that disarming law-abiding citizens will stop terrorism or plain crazy people from going on mass-killing sprees. That’s obviously like opening up the barn door on the theory that the wolves won’t kill the cows if you show them you’re not afraid.
A wolf does what a wolf does.
But that’s exactly the theory White House spokesmonkey Josh Earnest was trying to sell the nation just the other day. He was even called on it by one reporter who asked if the president really thought terrorists would be deterred by gun control laws, and he answered in the affirmative.
Gun control laws have worked so well in the past. Just look at San Bernardino, which is in California, the land of gun control. Pretty much every item on the president’s wish list is a law in California. The terrorists not surprisingly broke several laws. The laws did not stop them, nor have they ever stopped any of the suspects in any of the mass murders that have liberals so tied up in knots of worry and fear.
Now the NYT and the rest of the Left want Americans’ guns because we’re supposedly all violent psychopaths just waiting for some trigger words to start shooting.
Seriously, there are tens of millions of Americans who own guns. If we were violent, you’d know it.
But it was inevitable that there would be a call for gun confiscation eventually under this Administration, which is following in the footsteps of previous Progressive-fascist groups, turning people’s useless fears into an artificial crisis. Gun deaths are still just a fraction of drunk-driving deaths in this country. Where is the call to ban cars or alcohol? There isn’t one because the real agenda is to get rid of weapons that keep the government’s own power ambitions in check.
The president is pushing for “common-sense” surrender of your Second Amendment rights. Historically, gun roundups precede the targeting of certain groups for arrest, imprisonment and eventually execution.
Whatever liberal followers think they’re doing, they’re actually trying to take us down a dark path.
