Barack Obama’s push to protect 5 million to 20 million illegals so they can vote illegally in 2016 has been temporarily blocked by a federal judge. Obama’s November memo would protect around 5 million illegals from being deported and the broadening that that memo by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson increases the protection to nearly 20 million illegals, all potential illegal voters in 2016.
Shortly after making his controversial announcement right after the November elections, twenty-six state attorney generals banded together to file a lawsuit in federal court. The effort was led by then Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, now Gov. Abbott. They claimed that Obama’s actions were not only illegal but that it would cost states millions of dollars that they did not have and nothing in Obama’s program provided any funding to help the states cover the costs.
Since the case was initially filed by Abbott in Texas, it went before Judge Andrew Hanen in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Hanen previously served as the Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court before being appointed to the federal judge position by former President George W. Bush in 2002. In 2013, Hanen raised the ire of the Obama administration when during a ruling in an immigration case he urged the Department of Homeland Security to start arresting illegals who encourage their children to illegally cross the border into the US.
On Monday, Hanen granted Abbott and his co-plaintiffs, a temporary injunction to block Obama’s delayed deportation. In issuing the temporary injunction, Hanen stated that allowing the immigration actions to continue while the states’ lawsuit proceeds through the courts could cause irreparable harm to the states. He also said that once the delayed deportations go into effect along with all their ramifications that it would be virtually impossible to reverse it later in court. He stated:
“The genie would be impossible to put back into the bottle.”
The White House instantly responded claiming that Obama’s actions are perfectly legal. Josh Earnest, the White House Press Secretary issued a statement saying:
“The Supreme Court and Congress have made clear that the federal government can set priorities in enforcing our immigration laws-which is exactly what the President did when he announced commonsense policies to help fix our broken immigration system. The district court’s decision wrongly prevents these lawful, commonsense policies from taking effect and the Department of Justice has indicated that it will appeal that decision.”
The White House is appealing Hanen’s temporary injunction. Their appeal will go before the US Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. There are 24 judges in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Some have been appointed by Republican presidents and some by Democratic presidents. You know that with the help of Obama’s puppet legal department, also known as the Justice Department, that they will manage to hand pick the most liberal tyrannical judge(s) in the court to hear their appeal.
By hook or by crook (how appropriate a term for Obama), the illegal resident currently occupying the White House will do anything, mostly illegal, to protect his 20 million potential illegal voters. It doesn’t matter that over half of the states are against his actions. Obama cares nothing for the Constitution, federal laws, legal immigrants, American citizens or the job market. All he cares about is the millions of illegal votes.
