Yesterday I wrote about how many people will be seeing a significant increase in their Obamacare health insurance premiums despite Obama’s promise to lower healthcare costs by $2,500 per family. It was reported that in some age categories, those increases could be as much as 50% to double the current premiums.
Word has been getting out to a number of people concerning the rate hikes and they have been turning to the old reliable trustworthy website of HealthCare.gov to find out how much their rates are going up but they’re not getting answers. It seems that the Obama administration doesn’t want you to know how much your premiums are going to increase until AFTER the November 4 election.
I find it too coincidental that enrollment for Obamacare last year started on October 1 but the open enrollment this year isn’t until November 15, less than two weeks AFTER the election. Shouldn’t the open enrollment this year be around the same time as it was last year? Why the month and half delay if not due to the election?
It’s also being reported by some analysts that states with important Senate races will be experiencing double-digit rate increases in Obamacare premiums. For example, Alaska’s state insurance board has already approved rate hikes of 35% to 40% for Premera Blue Cross and Moda Health.
Tim Phillips, President of Americans for Prosperity, a free market organization, commented on the delayed open enrollment saying:
“This is more than just a glitch. The administration’s decision to withhold the costs of this law until after Election Day is just more proof that Obamacare is a bad deal for Americans.”
Robert Laszerski, President of Health Policy and Strategy Associates also commented about the delay in open enrollment and the hiding of premium increases, saying:
“When it comes to a lack of openness and transparency about Obamacare, this administration has no peer.”
I wonder what effect an earlier open enrollment or releasing the new higher premium rates would have on the elections in those key states? Would it be enough to sway the elections to the GOP and help them win control of the Senate? Evidently the White House must think so otherwise they wouldn’t be hiding the increases from everyone. This alone should send up warning flags to everyone of what the Obama administration is up to and why it is so important for the GOP to win the Senate and take control of Congress.
