Federal law requires the Executive Department to release their plans for the issuance of new regulations twice a year. The law does not specify when during the year the release is to take place.
If the president has nothing to hide, then he generally issues his release during normal times of the year. But when the occupant of White House doesn’t want anyone to know about his new regulations, he issues his release just prior to a holiday when everyone’s focus is on the upcoming celebrations and family get-togethers. This is especially true with Barack Obama. According to CNS News:
Agenda – Release Date
Fall 2012 – December 21 (Friday before Christmas)
Spring 2013 – July 3 (day before Independence Day)
Fall 2013 – November 27 (day before Thanksgiving)
Spring 2014 – May 23 (Friday before Memorial Day weekend)
Fall 2014 – December 22 (three days before Christmas)
Spring 2015 – May 21 (Thursday before Memorial Day weekend)
Fall 2015 – November 23 (one week before Thanksgiving)”
Actually, November 23, 2015 was only 3 days before Thanksgiving. So what is Obama trying to hide? Would you believe that this week’s release contained over 2,000 proposed new regulations. CNS News reported:
“Of these, 144 are deemed ‘economically significant’—that is, expected to cost Americans $100 million or more each.”
The 144 economically significant set a new record, beating the one Obama set earlier this year of 136 economically significant regulations.
The newly proposed regulations include:
“Labeling requirements for pet food, new test procedures for battery chargers, mandated paid sick leave for contractors, and automatic speed limiters for trucks to a dozen new rules limiting energy use (and increasing the price) of everything from furnaces and dishwashers to dehumidifiers.”
Realize that if Obama is successful in getting most of his proposed regulations put into effect that Thanksgiving dinner will cost you more next year. You’ll pay more because of increased cost of transportation due to the automatic speed limiters on trucks, cost of new labeling on some of your menu items and the cost of running your dishwasher to clean up afterwards. If you have pets (we have 3 dogs and cat living in our house) you’ll pay more when you feed them due to the new labeling requirements.
Most of the new proposed regulations are completely unnecessary and are nothing more than the efforts of Barack Obama to dictatorially govern every aspect of our lives just like Big Brother in George Orwell’s famous novel, 1984. Think about it: do you think adding serving size to the labeling of an item that could be consumed at one time is going to prevent anyone from consuming it at one sitting? When someone purchases a king-sized candy bar, do you really think they’ll read the label for serving size before eating the entire candy bar? Besides, what business is it of Obama anyway?
