Once again Barack Obama is using a public shooting to push his efforts to eliminate the Second Amendment and disarm law abiding American citizens.
On Friday, 57 year old Robert Lewis Dear shot and killed 3 people including a law enforcement officer and wounded 9 others at a Colorado Springs Planner Parenthood clinic. And once again the liberal media and politicians are horrified by the murders at a location that murders on a daily basis.
In less than 24 hours after the shootings, Barack Obama once again took the media and declared that enough is enough and that America must take action to curb gun violence. At least 2 dozen liberal anti-American Democrats are urging Obama to use his dictatorial powers, also known as an executive order, to impose his anti-Second Amendment agenda on the nation. They all claim that it will help reduce gun violence.
They want all of America to be under the same strict anti-gun laws as those in places like Maryland, New York and Chicago. So just how successful are these strict gun laws that Democrats claim will reduce gun violence?
In Baltimore, there were 43 homicides in the month of May, making it the third deadliest month in over 44 years. The majority of those homicides involved guns. Maryland also has strict gun laws and background checks. Gun owners must keep their guns unloaded and locked up at home, making them useless for self-defense.
October 1, I reported:
“Well then, let’s take a look at Chicago to see just how wonderfully effective their gun control laws are. According to reports, this past weekend saw 52 people wounded and 4 killed by guns. This marks the second weekend in a row with more than 50 shootings. To date, at least 2,300 people have been shot within the city of Chicago. That’s an increase of around 400 more than during the same period in 2014. The increased shootings have resulted in a 21% increase in the homicide rate over the same period as last year.”
A more recent report revealed that to date, there have been 2,703 shootings resulting in 440 deaths in Chicago. That is more deaths by guns than Chicago had for all of 2014 which exceeded the record numbers for 2013. This indicates that even with strict gun laws, shootings and gun related deaths are still increasing.
What about other places that have passed strict gun laws, how have those laws help curb gin violence?
Australia passed their national gun control laws in 1996. They banned many commonly used guns for hunting including semi-automatic rifles and shotguns and pump action shotguns. The government spent millions of dollars buying guns from Australian citizens. They prided themselves on destroying over 631,000 guns.
Despite claims by Australian Prime Minister John Howard that this would reduce gun violence but the opposite was true. After the gun laws went into effect, here is what happened to the crime rates in Australia:
- Murders committed with guns increased by 19%.
- Home invasions increased by 21%.
- Assaults committed with guns increased by 28%.
- Armed robberies skyrocketed with an increase of 69%.
Besides, all of the background checks and other restrictions won’t keep criminals from obtaining guns. Last week I spoke a manager at a gun store in Georgia and he told me that criminals don’t usually try to buy guns legally. It’s quite easy for them to purchase what they want off the streets without hassling with background checks.
The question you need to be asking is if you want your family and home to be victims to crimes and violence? If Obama and his loyal disciples have their way, you may no longer have the ability to exercise your right to defend yourself, your family or your home. Not if they want the rest of America to be like Australia, Baltimore and Chicago!
