OH OH! Watch Out Illinois Liberals, New State Rep is Black Constitutional Republican Who Cares About Teens

Republican Pam Roth has been the Representative to the Illinois state legislature since 2001.   She has represented Illinois’s 75th congregational district which includes the counties of Kendall, Grundy, Will and LaSalle just southwest of the Chicago area.

In July, she announced that she would be resigning from her congressional seat at the end of August.  Her husband was offered a job too good to turn down in Texas resulting in the family moving to the Lone Star state.  A copy of her resignation letter can be found here.

Since Roth was a Republican, the GOP of Illinois had the task of appointing a replacement for her.  They had a list of nine possible candidates and after carefully looking at all of them they believe they found the perfect candidate in John Anthony.

Anthony, 37, grew up in a Chicago housing project and unlike many others from that background, he grew up to be a conservative and a Republican.  He went on to serve as a police officer and a Kendall County sheriff’s deputy since 2008.  He is known as a constitutional conservative which is the last thing Illinois Democrats want to see.

He and his wife are also the founders of the YARN Foundation (Young And Restoring Nations).   According to their website:

“Our three-fold mission as YARN Foundation, Inc. is to Re-Store the fiber of our community, Re-Educate the family, Re-Empower the youth of today by revolutionizing their mindsets and atmospheres, to create stronger unity in our Community, so they can SEE!”

“YARN Foundation, Inc. is a multicultural community development based organization established to help, guide and care for youth and families of the 21st century by offering constructive, structured and rewarding programs and activities for all ages.”

“Our goal is to assist in the alleviation and ensure the steady decrease of youth suicides, alcohol, drug, and substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and school dropout rate that is plaguing our youths today.”

  • We will offer a GED readiness program, life skill, job training and case management programs.
  • We will offer one-on-one and group style mentoring programs, and family counseling.
  • We are working to establish a strong scholarship program, to engage more youth in the educational process.
  • We will offer transitional housing for at-risk youth, homeless youths, single and teen mothers and fathers, and provide a pregnancy crisis center.

“One of our primary goals is to collaborate with organizations and businesses within the regional area, to encourage youth to pursue positive direction in daily life experiences; empowering them to advance forward and reach achievable goals.”

Anthony’s involvement in his non-profit organization to work with today’s teens is one of the main reasons that the GOP selected him over the other candidates.  This makes him the first black Republican Illinois state representative in thirty years.  Illinois, the political home of flaming black liberal Democrats like Barack Obama, Jesse Jackson Jr. and Rahm Emanuel, is not accustomed to having conservative black Republicans in their state government.

What’s worse for the Illinois liberals is the fact that John Anthony knows the Constitution and the law and has a track record of upholding them both.  It will be interesting to see just how many feathers he ruffles in the Illinois state legislature.
