Ah, Sharia law, that gift to civilization from the prophet Mohammad.
One man in Philadelphia was the beneficiary of that enlightened medieval law code last week after a prayer service when his mosque’s emir and imam accused him of stealing jars full of money.
The victim, who normally helps organize services at the Al-Masjid Ur-Razzaq Ul-Karim mosque, was allegedly dragged down a flight of steps to a yard in back of the mosque.
Police Lt. John Walker told the Philadelphia Inquirer, “They threw the victim to the ground and held his right arm against a log. One of the offenders grabbed a machete from inside the mosque and struck the victim near his wrist. The blade cut through some of his tendons.”
The victim survived the attack with his hand still attached to his body. Somehow, he was able to get away and was taken to a hospital, where doctors said he would keep his hand, but he would require reconstructive surgery to help repair the damage.
Police arrested the emir, Merv Mitchell, who uses several aliases, including Mabul Shoatz, and charged him with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy and related charges.
A search of the mosque turned up the machete used in the attack, which had a 2-foot blade.
Mitchell, as you could guess, has a considerable criminal record that includes robbery, burglary and theft, which is kind of interesting since the given excuse for the attack was stolen money. According to the Inquirer, the mosque’s owner, whose name is given as Nothinne Mabul Mitchell, owes more than $80,000 in back real estate taxes.
At this writing, the unnamed imam had not been arrested, but police said they were seeking a warrant.
While most Americans may be shocked at something like this happening, the incident reflects run-of-the-mill, standard Muslim belief. The Koran calls for cutting off the hand of a thief, so why should it be surprising when the leaders of a mosque should seek to follow the tenets of their faith?
In Islam, a trial is a rarity in criminal cases, and when one does occur, it is typically run in a way that would be considered “stacked” and a violation of a suspect’s rights under the American legal system.
The incident in Philadelphia reflects the danger of the growing balkanization of America, a phenomenon that can be attributed not only to waves of illegal immigrants who don’t want to blend in to American culture, but also to the openly racially charged rhetoric that comes out of the Obama Administration, its sycophant media and the Left in general.
Hard-core Muslims might also be feeling their oats these days due to the success of ISIS in taking over Iraq, the declaration of a new caliphate, the renewed fighting in Gaza brought on by the Palestinians, and worldwide, violent anti-Israel protests by Palestinians who have occupied large swaths of many European countries.
When President Bush left office, the Islamic problem had not been solved, but groups like al-Qaida had been knocked down and served notice to beware of the United States. In five and a half years, Obama has destroyed or handed back every gain made in controlling the Middle East by Bush. Hard-core Muslims feel their ascension is at hand globally. How can that not affect Islam in America?
The ISIS Caliphate has as its stated goal the Islamization of the entire world.
Wherever Sharia law is allowed to take hold, the results are the same: violence and an eventual slide back into medieval barbarity. Sharia law is incompatible with American respect for individual rights and liberty.
