Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is an honest Socialist. He’s not the only Socialist in Congress; he’s the only self-admitted one. Sanders is going to be a problem for the Democrats since he’s going to sound a lot like them, which means he’s going to out the Democrat Party as being socialistic.
Sen. Sanders says he’s a “democratic Socialist.” A democratic Socialist is someone who uses the votes of the majority to take money from the minority so it can be redistributed to the majority of voters who voted for the theft. Theft by majority rule is still theft.
This means that nearly everybody in Congress is a Socialist, including a majority of Republicans. It’s only a matter of degree. Sanders’ brand of socialism is the Scandinavian countries:
“Well, so long as we know what democratic socialism is,” Sanders responded [to George Stephanopoulos]. “And if we know that in countries, in Scandinavia, like Denmark, Norway, Sweden, they are very democratic countries, obviously. The voter turnout is a lot higher than it is in the United States. In those countries, health care is the right of all people. And in those countries, college education, graduate school is free. In those countries, retirement benefits, childcare are stronger than in the United States of America. And in those countries, by and large, government works for ordinary people and the middle class, rather than, as is the case right now in our country, for the billionaire class.”
Of course voter turnout is high. People get to vote to steal money from other people so they can get “free” stuff!
By democratic, Sanders means that the majority gets to vote to take money from the productive members of society so that it can be redistributed to the not-so-productive. Of course this form of democracy is popular since people can vote for politicians who are empowered to tax the wealthy in order to give the taxed revenue to people who did not earn it.
James Madison (1751-1836), fourth president of the United States and recognized as the “father of the Constitution,” wrote in the Federalist Papers (No. 10), that democracies are “spectacles of turbulence and contention.” Pure democracies are “incompatible with personal security or the rights of property. . . . In general [they] have been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.”
Someone wrote, “A democracy cannot exist as a pure form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse [benefits] from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by dictatorship.”
This method of governance has a short shelf life and lasts only until the productive get tired of being productive and having their productivity taken away from them and given to others.
Bernie Sanders wants the United States to be like the Scandinavian countries. The following is from Michael Booth’s “Dark Lands: The Grim Truth Behind the ‘Scandinavian Miracle.’”
Consider Denmark. The Danes “have the highest level of private debt in the world (four times as much as the Italians, to put it into context; enough to warrant a warning from the IMF), while more than half of them admit to using the black market to obtain goods and services.”
In addition, “the proportion of people below the poverty line has doubled over the last decade. Denmark is becoming a nation divided. . . . Denmark’s provinces have become a social dumping ground for non-western immigrants, the elderly, the unemployed and the unemployable.”
“Finland ranks third in global gun ownership behind only America and Yemen; has the highest murder rate in western Europe, double that of the UK; and by far the highest suicide rate in the Nordic countries. The Finns are epic Friday-night bingers and alcohol is now the leading cause of death for Finnish men. . . . Finland’s hitherto robust economy is more dependent than ever on selling paper – mostly I was told, to Russian porn barons.”
Sweden is “effectively a one-party state – albeit supported by a couple of shadowy industrialist families – for much of the 20th century, ‘neutral’ Sweden (one of the world largest arms exporters) continues to thrive economically thanks to its distinctive brand of totalitarian modernism, which curbs freedoms, suppresses dissent in the name of consensus, and seems hell-bent on severing the bonds between wife and husband, children and parents, and elderly on their children. Think of it as the China of the north. Youth unemployment is higher than the UK’s and higher than the EU average.”
