Protest planned after high school cheerleaders put on probation for supporting POTUS

Politics in America is undergoing a wild and radical series of changes in the 21st century, as the once-uncouth conservation subject becomes an every-moment-of-every-day sort of concern.

For decades, it was considered tacky and tactless to discuss politics among friends.  Our votes were once private to us, and you would have outed yourself as a grade A rube if caught asking someone for whom they voted.

Those days are gone, folks.  Today, Americans are gladly advertising their once-personal political beliefs and seething at one another through social media in order to gain self-gratifying “likes” and “shares”.

This is true even among high school cheerleading squads.

Cheerleaders from North Stanly High School in North Carolina have been placed on probation for the rest of the year because they posed with a banner supporting President Donald Trump.

Members of the cheer squad had held up a banner reading “Trump 2020: Make America Great Again” during a home game on August 30.

The photo had made the rounds on social media, which prompted the North Carolina High School Athletic Association to “take action,” according to a report from the Daily Mail. In North Carolina, students are prohibited from displaying political signs. If they break the rules again, the students may be subject to fines or even suspension.

A protest against the school’s actions is being planned among students and parents alike, who believe that the issue is one of free speech.

Organizers are encouraging participants to don their MAGA gear while in attendance at the school’s next home game, which would force the hand of the overreaching district.
