Protesters Arrested Inside Pelosi’s Office Demanding #GreenNewDeal

Nearly 150 protesters were arrested outside the Washington, D.C., offices of Reps. Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer during a climate demonstration today.

Hundreds of people affiliated with the Sunrise Movement gathered at Pelosi’s and Hoyer’s offices, as well as the office of Rep. Jim McGovern demanding Democrats take bold action on climate change.

Have these young people paid any attention to what is happening in France right now? I’m guessing not.

TDC:

A group of protesters were arrested in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s office on Capitol Hill Monday after demanding Democrats take action to address climate change.

The group of more than 100 climate change activists, began flooding into Pelosi’s office around 10 a.m., demanding to speak with the congresswoman. The protesters were also demanding Democrats address climate change and a green new deal as part of taking the majority in 2019. More

U.S. Capitol Police reported 138 arrests in connection with these protests.

They are calling on the Dem leaders to sign on to an effort by Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to pass a so-called Green New Deal.

Incoming House Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pitches plan to transition the U.S. to 100 percent renewable energy.

The Democrats, if they want to win in 2020, they need to focus on legislation that has a chance of passing in both Houses. Specifically, I would suggest they drive legislation for those things for which Trump has publicly expressed support (ie., infrastructure, lowering drug costs).
