Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Announces She Will Not Run for Re-Election to Congress

After becoming the focus of attack by the far left of the Democrat Party, Democrat Representative Tulsi Gabbard has announced that she will not run for re-election to her Hawaii congressional seat.

Gabbard announced that she will not seek re-election so she can focus entirely on her run for president.

“Today I’m officially announcing that I will not be seeking reelection to Congress in 2020. Throughout my life, I’ve always made my decisions based on where I felt I could do the most good,” Gabbard said on Twitter. “In light of the challenges we face, I believe I can best serve the people of Hawai’i [and] our country as President and Commander-in-Chief.”

Gabbard was first elected in 2012 for to Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District after winning more than 80% of the vote. She was both the first Samoan-American and first Hindu member of Congress. She is also a veteran of the Hawaii Army National Guard, and served in Iraq. So far, she has won re-election twice and served three terms.

The Democrat’s committee assignments include the prestigious and powerful House Committee on Financial Services, Committee on Foreign affairs, and Committee on Financial Services.

“As president, I will immediately begin work to end the new cold war [and] nuclear arms race, end our interventionist foreign policy of trying being the world’s police, toppling dictators and governments we don’t like, but instead redirect our precious resources towards serving the needs of the people here at home,” Gabbard continued in her announcement. “I humbly ask for your support for my candidacy for President of the United States.”

Gabbard has been engaged in a running battle of wits with losing 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton who recently called her a “Russian asset.”

The Hawaiian has tangled with Clinton before having famously quit the Democrat National Committee in 2016 because of the DNCC’s unfair treatment of Bernie Sanders during the 2016 primaries. Gabbard also supported Sanders and not Clinton.

Gabbard does not have a ghost of a chance to win the Democrat nomination, though. She currently stands at about 1.3 percent in the Democrat primary polling.
