Report: Utah GOP Furious with Anti-Trump Mitt Romney’s Impeachment Fever

Club for Growth President David McIntosh says that he has heard from many members of Utah’s Republican Party and they are “disgusted” with Mitt Romney for jumping in with Democrats on so many things, especially impeachment fever.

McIntosh appeared as a guest on Breitbart News Saturday and told host Matthew Boyle that Utah voters are getting sick and tired of the state’s stand-in for John McCain.

The activist slammed those Republicans “such as Mitt Romney, were going to use this as a political opportunity to take a whack at the president. In this case, I think he’s jealous that he’s not president.”

McIntosh and his Club for Growth even took out an ad in Utah, recently, urging Utahns to call Romney and tell his office to “stop colluding with Democrats” on impeachment.

“@MittRomney is working as a secret asset for @SpeakerPelosi and the Democrats, plotting to take [email protected] through impeachment,” the conservative activist group wrote in October. “Now his cover is blown. Tell Romney to stop colluding with Democrats now,” a recent tweet said.

McIntosh noted that the ad drew much praise in Utah.

“We took an ad in Utah, urging Utah citizens to call Sen. Romney and say stop playing footsy with the Democrats on this impeachment issue,” the activist said. “It’s clearly a political witch hunt, and we got a huge response from Utah” Republicans.

McIntosh added that Utah Republicans are “disgusted with him not staying loyal to the president.”

Romney is one of only three Republicans who has refused to co-sponsor the Graham-McConnell resolution that calls for a censure of Democrats for their un-American, Star Chamber-styled, secret impeachment tribunals that are not open for America to see in public. The other two are also the usual suspects including, Susan Collins (R-ME), and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).
