In Genesis 19, we read about how the men of Sodom tried to force Lot to send out the two men, who were really angels, so they could know them sexually but Lot refused. The reputation of the town was one of homosexuality and it caused God’s anger to burn. That anger rained down as sulfur and fire on the city, totally destroying it and everyone in the city.
January 1, 2014, the world famous Rose Parade will take on the personage of Sodom before it was destroyed. Aubrey Loots and Danny Leclair will be riding on the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s float and sometime during the Rose Parade, they will be legally married. I’m sure that all of the media covering the parade will cover the ceremony of sin and hype it up to the fullest.
The AIDS Foundation float’s title is ‘Living the Dream: Love Is The Best Protection.’ They are celebrating their gay victories that took place during 2013, including the Supreme Court decision that repealed California’s ban on gay marriages and striking down the main sections of the Defense of Marriage Act.
Once news of the gay wedding was made public, Rose Parade officials started receiving numerous complaints. Many turned to the Rose Parade’s Facebook page to voice their concerns. One man wrote:
“I am a 79 year old Los Angeles native and have not missed a parade since I was about 4 years old. I have watched my LAST one due to your decision to allow this unbiblical, gay marriage to take place on one of your floats.”
Another person wrote:
“2 gay men in a ‘wedding’ ceremony is highly offensive to me and millions of Americans. I can’t think of many things LESS appropriate for families and especially children. It’s completely the wrong venue for a stunt like this.”
Someone set up another Facebook page to boycott the parade. At the time I wrote this, Boycott the 2014 Rose Parade had 3,223 likes. I was number 3,224. One post on this Facebook page read:
“Gay ‘marriage’ is still illegal in over 30 states. Why would the Tournament of Roses promote something illegal like that? Pot smoking is legal in some states too, and some even claim it has medical benefits. What’s next for the Rose Parade? A float touting the benefits of smoking pot – with people actually smoking pot as it crawls down the parade route? This is just ridiculous and need[s] to be stopped immediately.”
Another post read:
“I just spoke with the PR Department at the Rose Parade. (626) 449 – 4100. The young woman who answered said they are concerned about the response to this and are forwarding all comments to their executives. That’s not a bad start. I pointed her to this page so she could forward it on to them as well. Please feel free to comment here as well as calling them. But PLEASE CALL!”
“IF YOU DON’T SPEAK OUT, THEY’LL THINK THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS.”
A third post listed the sponsors of the parade and urges people to contact them with their complaints:
“Here is a quick list of sponsors: Please call them and ask them to protest this idiotic decision.”
“Disneyland, Hallmark, Kaiser Permanente, LA Times, Macy’s, Nike, Parsons, Public Storage, Tiffany & Company, American Airlines, CocaCola, Farmers Insurance, FTD Florists, Honda, Miracle Grow, Taco Bell, Lawrys, Mikimoto, Remo.”
I have enjoyed watching the Rose Parade ever since I can remember which is about 60 years. I can assure you that I will not be watching the parade this year and urge as many others to boycott the parade as well. Furthermore, I plan to boycott the sponsors of the parade and also urge you to do likewise. It seems that the only thing that gets the attention of big businesses is to hurt them in the pocket book. I would rather give my hard earned money to companies that support traditional marriage and family values.
This public display of sinful debauchery is going way too far. It would not surprise me to see God take this moment to rain down His wrath on the Rose Parade. In some ways, I wish God would show His anger by destroying the AIDS float and perhaps more Americans may start taking God and the Bible more seriously.
