SHOCK: Chicago Lets Hate Crime Hoaxer Jussie Smollett Off the Hook, Drops Charges

The City of Chicago and Cook County prosecutors shocked the nation today by dropping the charges against hate crime hoaxer Jussie Smollett on Tuesday.

Smollett was arrested and charged with filing false reports and other crimes for claiming he was attacked by two white men wearing Donald Trump MAGA hats at 2AM in downtown Chicago… on a freezing cold Chicago winter morning.

Police investigated Smollett’s report and found that the Empire actor invented the incident. It never happened despite his full media campaign to drum up sympathy for himself.

But now, on Tuesday morning, the charges have been dropped.

According to Breitbart News:

Smollett attorneys Tina Glandian and Patricia Brown Holmes said in a statement that the actor’s record “has been wiped clean.” Smollett was indicted on 16 felony counts related to making a false report that he was attacked by two men who shouted racial and homophobic slurs in downtown Chicago on January 29. Police and prosecutors have said the black and gay actor falsely reported to authorities that he was attacked because he was unhappy with his pay on the Fox show and to promote his career.

TMZ reports: “Jussie will surrender his $10,000 bond. We’re told he has agreed to perform community service. A source close to Jussie says the prosecution’s case “disintegrated.” As we reported, there were issues with the $3,500 check the 2 brothers received from Jussie. The Police Superintendent had said the money was payment for the fake attack, but it appears it was actually for physical training.”

Chicago authorities did not say Smollett is innocent of the charges.

Instead, the charges were dropped in exchange for Smollett’s payment of a $10,000 bond and his agreement to perform community service.

Oddly, prosecutors said that Smollett already performed this community service and his record will now be sealed and expunged.

Apparently not everyone is happy with the newly announced decision.

Chicago police superintendent Eddie Johnson is reportedly furious over the decision.

Charlie De Mar, a reporter for Chicago’s local CBS affiliate WBBM-2, reported that Johnson was “furious,” and that he had not been consulted or informed about the decision to drop the charges against Smollett, Breitbart reported.
