We’ve heard of kids being suspended from school for pointing fingers, chewing Pop-Tarts into gun shapes and having pocket knives inside a vest inside a locked car, but outrage over these Progressive high-jinks have done nothing to stop the ongoing wussification of America.
The latest outrage produced by gunophobes involves a 13-year-old student in Vernon, New Jersey. According to News 12 New Jersey, Ethan Chaplin was in math class at Glen Meadow Middle School when the trouble began.
According to Ethan he was just twirling a pencil that had a pen cap on it, when a student behind him yelled out, “He’s making gun motions, send him to juvie.”
Ethan says the student who yelled had bullied him earlier in the day and was attempting to continue the bullying.
His father, Michael Chaplin, is justifiably outraged. “I’m absolutely livid,” he told News 12. “I think it’s gross misconduct at its finest. They took something so minimal and took it so far over the edge.”
Vernon Schools Superintendent Charles Maranzano is taking the bureaucrat dodge, saying the law requires him to suspend and invade the rights of students who make other people feel uncomfortable.
“We never know what’s percolating in the minds of children. And when they demonstrate behaviors that raise red flags, we must do our duty,” said Maranzano.
It’s interesting that nobody’s mentioned suspending the bully who started the whole panic. Apparently trying to frame people isn’t considered a red flag.
The neuroses of the gun-control lobby has led repeatedly to outrageous abuses of the law, such as what has happened to many students across this country.
More sinisterly, they have led to creation of “gun-free zones,” which really should be redesignated as “target-rich zones.” Most recently at Fort Hood, the completely moronic notion of a “gun-free zone” led to unnecessary deaths. Gun-control freaks often sell their tyrannical ideas by saying that only trained professionals like police should be allowed to carry guns. Yet in Fort Hood (and other military bases), we have hundreds or thousands of soldiers who are kept unarmed. Why?
Every soldier on every military base should be packing a loaded firearm, ready at a moment’s notice to use it in self-defense and defense of his base. If that had been the case at Fort Hood, the latest maniac might not have gotten so far unopposed.
On the one hand, we expose our children, soldiers and others to danger with gun-free zones, on the other hand, we punish children for nothing, using gun-free zones as the overarching excuse.
Once again it’s obvious from Progressives’ behavior that gun laws do not have the safety of anybody as their true impetus. Gun control is simply about exerting power by spreading fear.
