President Donald Trump has made a major campaign issue of calling the media as “fake news” and the left hates him for it. But even Elon Musk, the left’s favorite entrepreneur, is now slamming the press as the fake news media. So, where is the left-wing to slam Musk?
Musk went after the press in a new interview with Recode.com in which he reveals that his “regard” for the media has dropped.
The interviewer asked Musk about his recent habit of “picking fights with the press.” Musk was asked if he understood what his fans then do once he kicks off a spat with one media outlet or another.
Musk replied that he no longer has the same measure of respect for the media that he used to have saying, “Well, I have to say, my regard for the press has dropped quite dramatically.”
Musk went on to slam the fake news media:
The amount of untruthful stuff that is written is unbelievable. Take that Wall Street Journal front-page article about, like, “The FBI is closing in.” That is utterly false. That’s absurd. To print such a falsehood on the front page of a major newspaper is outrageous. Like, why are they even journalists? They’re terrible. Terrible people.
Now, isn’t that exactly what President Trump says?
Yes. Yes, it is.
Indeed, Recode worried that Musk was sounding too much like Trump:
I get that, but do you understand the mood in this country around the press and the dangers of attacking, especially when the president is doing that? In quite an aggressive, “enemy of the state” and everything else. It’s disturbing when someone like you as a leader does that, too, or goes along with it.
Musk had the exact right reply saying, “The answer is for the press to be honest and truthful, and research their articles and correct things properly when they are false. Which they don’t do.”
Recode continued to try and shame Musk into shutting up about the press by noting that his fans sometimes take things too far on social media after he attacks the press.
Musk was undaunted and replied, “I suggest the press take it to heart and do better.”
“There are good journalists and there are bad ones, and unfortunately the feedback loop for good versus bad is inverted, so the more salacious that an article is, the more salacious the headline is, the more clicks it’s gonna get,” Musk added. “Then somebody is not a journalist, they are an ad salesman.”
So, Donald Trump is not the only person slamming the fake news media. Even the left’s favorite businessman is doing it.
