The media narrative about the Planned Parenthood shooting on Friday has developed over the weekend as anticipated.
Although police at this point have yet to say anything about the suspected shooter Robert Dear’s motives, Planned Parenthood and other leftists have officially announced that he attacked because of opposition to abortion.
The only points they actually have to hang this narrative on so far is that he was in the front lobby of a Planned Parenthood clinic, and an anonymous source said in the media that Dear muttered something about “baby parts” when police interviewed him.
He apparently said a lot of things when interviewed, but that bit was enough for the Left to run with. In addition to the Planned Parenthood statements and the requisite baloney from Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and What’s-His-Name, leftist pundits and celebrities have been weighing in all weekend.
As anticipated, the developing narrative blames pro-life Christians, Republicans and particularly those videos that caught Planned Parenthood red-handed selling aborted children’s body parts for Dear picking up a gun, driving to the clinic and opening fire.
There’s also the boilerplate anti-gun silliness from President Obama, who took a break from telling us that the greatest threat to our country is global warming in order to tell us that guns in the hands of ordinary citizens are the greatest threat to our country. (No word from the White House this weekend about that whole war brewing between NATO and Russia.)
But the predominant media filler regarding the shooting has been how conservatives of all stripes caused the shooting deaths of three people (including a cop-slash-Christian-pastor) by opposing abortion.
According to Vicki Cowart, president of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains: “We share the concerns of many Americans that extremists are creating a poisonous environment that feeds domestic terrorism in this country.”
Does this start to sound like all that “safe space” garbage going on at American universities, or is it just my imagination?
But all right, if the Left wants to play that game, let’s take it all the way back to the source of that “poisonous environment” — an organization that slaughters more than 300,000 children per year and pretends it’s “health care.”
Planned Parenthood and pro-abortionists in general have long created a “poisonous environment” by their use of inflammatory rhetoric and blatant lies. It starts with the use of language about “choice” when the issue is abortion. Characterizing pro-life advocates as “anti-choice” is dismissive of not only opponents of abortion but the victims of it as well.
Characterizing children as “fetuses” or “lumps of tissue” continues the callous disregard for human life. The biggest joke is when pro-abortionists talk about “reproductive rights” or “family planning” when the last thing abortion is about is reproducing or creating a family. The Left’s despicable abuse of language has tricked generations of young, vulnerable women into making the worst mistake of their lives, all for the profit of groups like Planned Parenthood.
Then there’s all the talk from the Left about how anyone who stands up for human life is an “extremist” engaged in a “war on women.” Talk about fighting words.
All of that’s on top of what groups like Planned Parenthood actually do, which is target poor, disproportionately nonwhite women with their programs and propaganda to fuel their money-making abortion empire and further their founders’ goal to cleanse the world of “human weeds.”
GOP presidential hopefuls had some things to say about the Planned Parenthood shooting that the Left doesn’t want to hear.
Carly Fiorina called them out for “typical left-wing tactics” in “demonizing a messenger because they don’t agree with the message.”
“The vast majority of Americans agree what Planned Parenthood is doing is wrong,” she said, “and that’s why the vast majority of Americans are prepared – not only to defund Planned Parenthood – but also to stop abortion for any reason at all after five months.”
Ted Cruz, when pestered by a Huffing-and-Puffington Post blogger about the shooter’s “baby parts” comment, retorted that Dear has also been reported to be a “transgendered leftist activist,” based on the fact that Dear is registered to vote as an “unaffiliated woman.”
He followed up by cautioning against making assumptions. “We don’t know what those motives were,” he said, “but whatever they were, it’s unacceptable, and it’s horrific and wrong.”
And so are the efforts by people who support the mass killing of innocent children to blame the shootings on those who stand up for human life.
