In what is now total victory for President Donald Trump, a federal judge has not only completely thrown out a lawsuit filed by porn actress Stormy Daniels, but he ruled that Daniels has to pay the president’s $293,000 legal bill for the whole fiasco.
This is a huge win for President Trump and shows that Daniels had done little but file a nuisance lawsuit with no basis.
The lawsuit, filed by Michael “creepy porn lawyer” Avenatti, was tossed out in October.
“No amount of spin or commentary by Stormy Daniels or her lawyer, Mr. Avenatti, can truthfully characterize today’s ruling in any way other than total victory for President Trump and total defeat for Stormy Daniels,” Trump’s attorney, Charles Harder, said in a statement at the time.
Now, the case is wrapping up and the federal judge has reported just how much Daniels will have to pay.
According to CNBC:
A federal judge on Tuesday ordered porn star Stormy Daniels to pay President Donald Trump more than $292,000 in attorneys’ fees and another $1,000 in sanctions in connection with her dismissed defamation suit against Trump.
That was much less than the nearly $800,000 in legal fees and sanctions that Trump’s lawyer Charles Harder asked for earlier this month in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.
Avenatti tried to save face by name calling:
Daniels’s lawyer Michael Avenatti told CNBC in a text message that, “Harder and Trump deserve each other because they are both dishonest.”
“They received less than one half what they asked for because the request was gross and excessive,” Avenatti said. “Stormy will never have to pay a dime because they owe her over $1 million in attorney’s fees and costs from the main NDA case, especially in light of Cohen’s guilty plea to a felony.
Avenatti’s text referenced Daniels’s still-pending lawsuit against Trump that seeks damages in connection with a non-disclosure agreement, or NDA, that she has with the president.
Yep. Mark this one up as a major defeat for the creepy porn lawyer and a win for Trump.
