Tonight in Iowa, two political bigwigs will hold dueling rallies, each aimed directly at one another.
This is the sad state of affairs in the American political arena today, where mudslinging and character assassination get you much further than mending the nation and creating opportunity.
In one corner of the Hawkeye State will be Joe Biden – a man whose name recognition has far outweighed the work ethic of his slowpoke campaigning. Biden is framing the 2020 election as a contest solely between he and Donald Trump, attempting to create the perception that the nomination is already his. Earlier today it was revealed that Biden would be referencing Trump by name over six dozen times in his coming speech, after having already called the President an “existential threat” to our nation.
Trump, not one to let insults slide, tore into Biden this afternoon…just hours before the Iowa rallies.
“When a man has to mention my name 76 times in his speech, that means he’s in trouble,” Trump said. “I have to tell you, he’s a different guy. He looks different than he used to, he acts different than he used to–he’s even slower than he used to be.”
“Joe never got more than 1 percent except for when Obama took him off the trash heap,” Trump said, referring to the 2008 Democratic primary. “It looks like his friends from the left are going to overtake him pretty soon.”
The President wasn’t done there.
“Joe Biden thought China was not a competitor. Biden is a dummy. Joe Biden thought China was not a competitor of ours,” Trump said, claiming that China “ate our country alive during Obama and Biden.”
Biden and Trump have been at each others’ throats for year, with each having intimated a desire to engage in fisticuffs with the other earlier in Trump’s political career.
