A Millennial TV producer who was fired for putting “known cheater” under a news photo of Tom Brady is now hoping to get donations on GoFundMe… because Millennials need a trophy for everything, apparently.
Pittsburgh TV station KDKA fired video production employee Michael Telek after he put “known cheater” underneath a video of Tom Brady during a news report. Telek claimed that he was just joking with the chyron title at the bottom of the screen.
It turns out that his employer was not amused at the “joke.”
“While fans are entitled to have personal opinions, we have a journalistic responsibility to provide unbiased reporting,” KDKA said in an announcement that included news that the employee responsible for the “joke” had been fired.
“The graphic that appeared Monday violated our news standards. The individual who created the graphic no longer works for KDKA-TV,” the station added.
Of course, the graphic is alluding to the “deflategate” claims lodged against Brady where he was charged with illegally altering the amount of air in his footballs during the 2015 AFC Championship Game.
Brady has denied all charges in the incident, but the NFL suspended him for four games and his team was fined one million dollars.
But now a supporter of the employee is pleading for people to donate money to him via GoFundMe because he lost his job.
Why anyone should give money to this guy is anyone’s guess. In truth, he deserved to be fired for what he did. It was fatally stupid. He does not deserve support for it.
But he is a millennial. So, I assume he is used to getting trophies for everything.
