UN Efforts to Disarm America and the World Takes Effect Dec. 24

The United Nations has been trying to assert itself as a one-world government. They want complete control over every nation on the face of the earth. At the 1990 Earth Summit meeting in Rio de Janeiro, the United Nations put forth a proposal to give them complete jurisdiction of all land everywhere under the guise of environmental issues. Even though the US representative to the Summit, Al Gore, signed the resolution on behalf of the United States, there were enough other countries that would not sign it so it was never enacted. But they haven’t stopped trying to get control over countries one piece at a time.

One of their latest moves to usurp national sovereignty is the Arms Trade Treaty that is now scheduled to go into effect on December 24, 2014. To date, 122 nations signed the treaty but only 54 have ratified it. The last time it came up before the General Assembly, the vote was 154-3-23 in favor of adopting the treaty.

When Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, she signed the Arms Trade Treaty on behalf of the United States. However, it takes a two-thirds vote of the Senate to ratify any international treaty or law and so far the Republicans have been able to block ratification. Barack Obama, Joe Biden and current Secretary of State John Kerry have all spoken out in favor of the Arms Trade Treaty.

In case you were wondering, here is a copy of the treaty if you would like to read it for yourself.

MinutemenNews.com gave a good summary of the rest of the treaty:

  • Article 2 of the treaty defines the scope of the treaty’s prohibitions. The right to own, buy, sell, trade, or transfer all means of armed resistance, including handguns, is denied to civilians by this section of the Arms Trade Treaty.

  • Article 3 places the “ammunition/munitions fired, launched or delivered by the conventional arms covered under Article 2” within the scope of the treaty’s prohibitions, as well.

  • Article 4 rounds out the regulations, also placing all “parts and components” of weapons within the scheme.

  • Perhaps the most immediate threat to the rights of gun owners in the Arms Trade Treaty is found in Article 5. Under the title of “General Implementation,” Article 5 mandates that all countries participating in the treaty “shall establish and maintain a national control system, including a national control list.” This list should “apply the provisions of this Treaty to the broadest range of conventional arms.”

  • Article 12 adds to the record-keeping requirement, mandating that the list include “the quantity, value, model/type, authorized international transfers of conventional arms,” as well as the identity of the “end users” of these items.

  • Finally, the agreement demands that national governments take “appropriate measures” to enforce the terms of the treaty, including civilian disarmament. If these countries can’t get this done on their own, however, Article 16 provides for UN assistance, specifically including help with the enforcement of “stockpile management, disarmament, demobilization and reintegration programmes.” In fact, a “voluntary trust fund” will be established to assist those countries that need help from UN peacekeepers or other regional forces to disarm their citizens.

Allow me to add that supposedly the Arms Trade Treaty is designed to control the international sale and exchange of weapons. That may sound good on the surface, but it’s the fine print that you should find very alarming. To begin with, it defines what arms would be covered by the treaty and in Article 2, Section 1(h) it reads:

“Small arms and light weapons.”

Under the UN definitions, that would encompass all handguns, sporting and target rifles and shotguns as well as assault-style weapons and it’s more than just the international sales of these weapons. Democrats want to use the UN Arms Trade Treaty to help them disarm the American people.

Rather than give the UN any sovereignty over the United States, I would prefer to give them the boot and kick them off of US soil and send them on their way elsewhere. I also believe that the US needs to stop funding up to 30% of the total UN budget. They are nothing more than a one-world socialist organization that is determined to take control over the US and in my book that makes them enemies of our nation and as enemies of our nation they need to be off US soil and barred from every returning.
