Vermont Democrats Give Primary Win to Transgender Candidate for Governor

Vermont’s Democrat voters made history last night by giving their party’s nomination to the nation’s first transgender nominee for governor.

That’s right, a man pretending to be a woman just became the Democrat Party nominee for Vermont’s governor!

Democrats voted overwhelmingly for Christine Hallquist among a crowded field of four Democrat candidates. Hallquist will face sitting Republican Governor Phil Scott.

Hallquist, who seems to be only barely trying to look like a female, is now the first official transgender nominee in U.S. history.

Per the Burlington Free Press:

The general election matchup pits Hallquist, a former utility executive who has never held statewide elected office, against Scott, a former construction company owner seeking a second term.

“I’m going to tell you why we’re going to win in November,” said Hallquist, holding a clipboard as she addressed a cheering crowd of supporters at the Skinny Pancake restaurant in Burlington. “Because nothing is impossible when you’re on the side of justice.”

Hallquist’s campaign platform is built on her 13 years as the CEO of Vermont Electric Cooperative, where she says she proved it’s possible to address climate change without raising costs. She has pitched a plan to connect every Vermont home and business with high-speed internet access by relying on electric utilities to string fiber optic cable.

“It’s going to take a lot of work to get to every town in Vermont,” Hallquist said Tuesday of her upcoming campaign, “and it’s going to take twice the amount of work to knock on every door in Vermont, because there’s a lot of areas of Vermont that we don’t have internet to.”

Believe it or not, the GOP governor in Vermont is one of the more popular Republican governors. So, it isn’t likely that Hallquist will be able to unseat Scott. However, stranger things have happened, so let’s not assume Hallquist can’t win.

Scott does have one major problem, though. He survived a challenge from the pro-gun side of his own party and they are furious at his anti-gun laws. If he can’t tame that wing of his party he could lose just enough support for the tranny to squeak by and beat him.
