Vermont has just passed a bill that would allow abortion for any reason at any time even to the very minute of a live, healthy birth. It would also specifically devalue the life of a fetus in utero making it a non-human throughout the pregnancy.
This disgusting news comes from Life Site:
Last month, more than 90 House members cosponsored legislation to codify a “fundamental right” to “have an abortion,” like several other states moving to ensure abortion remains legal regardless of a future Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
“No State or local law enforcement shall prosecute any individual for inducing, performing, or attempting to induce or perform the individual’s own abortion,” it says, as well as prohibiting any “public entity” from restricting any sort of benefits or services on the basis of an individual’s decision to have or a medical worker’s decision to commit an abortion. The language suggesting there be no prosecution for do-it-yourself abortions raises questions about whether there would be adequate legal protections against infanticide in Vermont.
The radical left-wingers in the Vermont House voted 104-40 to give the bill preliminary approval on Wednesday evening, and passed it 106-36 on Thursday.
The bill would also take all legal protections away from a baby in utero. That means if a person murders a pregnant woman, the murderer would not be charged with the death of the baby as well as the death of the woman.
Of course, this is a natural result of legalizing abortion at any time for any reason. After all, if you can murder your baby any time you feel like it, that baby must necessarily have no human rights at any time. After all, if the baby had rights, then abortion would be legal murder.
This is a very, very radical abortion bill. In every other state, the law states that abortion is illegal to the point where a baby is a viable human being that could live on its own if removed from a mother — even if prematurely.
But in Vermont, viability is about to become meaningless.
This all raises the logical question that if human viability is no longer an impediment to legal murder… then why stop at birth? Why can’t a mother murder her two-year-old child if she is tired of it? What logic would make a one-year-old any more worthy of protection under the law than a child once second before birth?
This is the road Democrats are traveling, folks.
