Video of a Virginia man who used a flame thrower to clear his driveway of snow is going viral this week as snow storms blanket the Midwest and eastern portions of the U.S.
“Nathanael Caplinger decided to leave his shovel in the garage, and use his flamethrower to melt the snow instead,” WIRC ABC 8 News reported on Friday.
Caplinger told the media that he hates shoveling snow, so he broke out his flame thrower instead.
He said he read a story about the usefulness of a flame thrower for clearing snow and he thought he’d actually buy one and try it out.
Soon he was pictured on the Internet doing just that…

Caplinger said the flame throwing device worked perfectly for his needs.
But he did warn people to use some common sense while using such devices.
“Make sure there’s no flammables nearby, “the homeowner said. “Make sure it’s only what you want to burn, make sure afterward hang out for about a half hour, make sure nothing reignites.”
Naturally, city officials are warning residents to AVOID using this method of snow removal.
With the way so many people burn their houses down each year trying to fry whole turkeys, I can see why the city is worried about people suddenly toting flame throwers all over the place!
I imagine it won’t be long before legislators start banning devices like this.
Who needs freedom, huh?
