Weather Man Al Roker Defends White Broadcaster Accused of Racism

Today Show weatherman Al Roker jumped to the defense of a fellow weatherman who made an on-air gaffe that detractors called “racist.”

Chief Meteorologist Jeremy Kappell of Rochester’s WHEC-TV was quickly fired after he used the phrase “Martin Luther coon” live on TV, Daily Wire reported.

With a listen to the on-air gaffe, it really does seem that Kappell just delivered a verbal tic and was not calling the famed civil rights leader a “coon.” Kappel quickly recovered to properly pronounce “Martin Luther King, Jr.”

The station immediately fired the weatherman after Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren complained.

But the African American Roker chimed in saying that the caucasian Kappell did not deserve to be fired for the gaffe.

“I think @JeremyKappell made an unfortunate flub and should be given the chance to apologize on @news10nbc Anyone who has done live tv and screwed up (google any number of ones I’ve done) understands,” Roker Tweeted on Wednesday.

Roker didn’t leave it there. When one Twitter user slammed Al for his stance, Roker replied destroying the Twitter user’s brainless assumptions.

Exactly right, Al!

Not everything is raaaacist.
