A Phoenix, Arizona man has made a “statement” by turning over all this guns in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting. The shooting was tragic, and we mourn for the lives lost, however, this guy is just an idiot.
The only “statement” I got out of his actions is that he lost his man card somewhere. It’s probably in his wife’s back pocket.
Jonathan Pring called the police and told them that he would like to surrender his guns, so they came and got them.
He said, “I’m a proud American citizen. I’m a duel citizen. I love watching football, eating hot dogs, and until yesterday, I had a machine gun.”
The 36-year-old said he had an “epiphany” and that he thought, “there is really something tangible we can do to make this stop happening.”
He added, “Most people are supportive of what I did. Some people think I’m crazy. I think the police officers thought I was crazy.”
Uh. Yeah. He is crazy. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
This idiot obviously deserves neither.
Pring concluded, “I decided I needed to be a man of principle; lead by example,” he continued, “I don’t expect everybody to start handing in their guns, but if I can contribute to the dialogue, eventually the goal is for the government to do something.”
He also isn’t bothered much by the decision. I wonder if he will be thinking the same thing if, God forbid, someone makes a go for his home. Since, you know, the whole world now knows this guy is unarmed.
He chose to quote Ghandi, saying, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
Thats fine buddy. You can quote him all you want. However, screaming that at an intruder isn’t going to do you much good.
