A Florida woman pleaded guilty to animal abuse charges after pulling an alligator out of her yoga pants during a routine traffic stop, according to court records.
Ariel Machan-Le Quire, 25, pleaded guilty to illegally possessing wild animals and was sentenced to probation, Fox News reported.
Machan-Le Quire was found as a passenger in a car driven by one Michael Clemons who was pulled over for blowing through a stop sign in Punta Gorda, Florida, on May 6. The pair told the officer that they were out in the wilds collecting frogs and snakes.
The driver gave the Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputy permission to search the vehicle and the officer found a “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” backpack with 41 3-stripe turtles inside.
The officer then asked if there were any more animals inside the car.
That is when Machan-Le Quire reportedly pulled a one-foot-long American alligator out of her yoga pants.
According to the Miami Herald it is illegal to possess an alligator, not to mention more than one 3-stripe turtle or turtle egg at a time.

The woman was then charged with “possessing an American alligator, possessing more than one turtle per day, transporting more than one turtle or turtle eggs and one count of possessing a softshell turtle,” the paper said.
Florida residents need a state permit to own an American alligator. The reptile is protected under state law.
In court last week, Machan-Le Quire was found guilty on all counts before her and she was sentenced to two-year’s probation.
Machan-Le Quire will also have to complete 200 hours of community service and make a $500 donation to the FWC’s Wildlife Alert Fund.
