YouTube is teaming with a left-wing Internet show called the “Young Turks” to run a “local news academy,” a report says.
The Young Turks show is fronted by leftist commentator Cenk Uygur, and according to Axios, Google-owned YouTube is set to launch an online course called TYT Academy that focuses on the creation of digital-first local news.
YouTube is reportedly set to sink six figures into the budget.
“As one of YouTube’s most successful publishers with 4.6 million for its main account and millions of followers across its affiliated channels, TYT is a logical fit for this type of investment,” Axios reported.
So, YouTube thinks teaming up with far, far left activists to “train” upcoming journalists is… what? A good idea?
Does anyone think that YouTube would ever team with someone on the right?
Nope. In fact, YouTube deplatforms everyone on the right!
So, who are these “Young Turks”? Well, one is a fellow named Hasan Piker who recently said that America deserved the terror attacks on 9/11.
Hasan later “apologized” for his comments.
Uygur himself has also apologized time and again for comments he made on his blogs and his shows. In one case, he apologized for “insensitive and ignorant comments about women.
Bernie Sanders was so afraid of being seen as a Uygur supporter that he pulled his support of the online personalities’ failed congressional bid. Sanders pulled back from his endorsement of Uygur after comments he’s made about women, Jews, Muslims and others made trouble for the Vermont Senator.
These are the people that YouTube thinks would be good to train young journalists.
